APSET Results 2014
The Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (APSET 2013) 2013 results were released and can be accessed from here. The cut-off percentage was decided by a committee consisting of UGC representatives and Vice Chancellors of some State universities. This year the cut-off percentage was 65 per cent for general candidates, 60 per cent for BC candidates and 55 per cent for SC, ST and physically challenged. However, cut-offs were higher for Telugu, Education and Physical Education due to high number of qualified candidates. In such cases, the cut-off percentage is increased to ensure that not more than 25 per cent of the appeared candidates get eligibility.
A.P. State Eligibility Test (APSET-2013) will be issued on July 1 by the Osmania University, which has been tasked with conducting the test by the University Grants Commission. The exam will be conducted on November 23rd, 2013. candidates can submit applications online from July 5. The last date for submission of applications is July 26. Applications will be accepted with a fine of Rs. 100 till July 31, and Rs. 200 till August 5. The test will be held in 12 regional centres - four each in the three regions of the State.
The APSET will be conducted in 27 subjects related to Sciences, Arts and Humanities. Prof. Reddy said five new subjects will be added this year: Journalism and Communication, Geography, Library Science, Social Work and Sanskrit. Anthropology and Linguistics have been excluded due to poor response. Candidates will have to appear in the subject of their post-graduation only.
Qualification in APSET is mandatory for candidates seeking employment as Assistant Professors in universities, colleges and other educational institutions. However, candidates who have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree are exempt from the requirement. Osmania University has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the exam after a gap of more than 14 years, replacing the erstwhile State Level Eligibility Test (SLET). Candidates numbering 96,955 appeared for the exam in 2012, of which 8,004 candidates gained eligibility.
