UPSC Civil services Prelims online application 2013

UPSC issued notification for Civil services Prelims online Application, Brand new notification published by UPSC by highlighting the new exam pattern for mains. After one month delay than actual notification time, UPSC come out with new exam pattern for mains from this year. Big thanks to recommendations of Arun S Nigavekar committee.

From this year UPSC will test a candidate's general awareness of a variety of subjects, which will have relevance for a career in civil services. UPSC Civil services conducts test to select candidates for IAS, IPS, IFoS and IFS, among others.

Who is eligible to apply UPSC Civil Services?
Education qualification is any graduation from UGC recognized university. For the IAS and the IPS, candidate must be a citizen of India. The Candidate age has between 21 years to 30 years on 1st August, 2013. The upper age limit will be relaxable as per reservations. Every candidate shall be permitted four attempts at the examination.

UPSC Civil Services Application fee:
Female/SC/ST/PH Candidates are exempted from payment of fee. Candidates are required to pay fee of Rs. 100/- either by remitting the money in any Branch of SBI by Cash.

How to Apply UPSC Civil services Prelims Online application?
Candidates are required to apply Online by using the website www.upsconline.nic.in. Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available on www.upsconline.nic.in website. The UPSC Civil services Prelims online Applications can be filled up to 4th of April, 2013 till 11.59 PM.

New exam Pattern for Mains
The UPSC Civil services preliminary examination has two compulsory papers of 200 marks each. The questions will be of multiple choices, objective type.

Main Examination: The written examination will consist of the following papers:

Paper-I
Section 1 Essay 200 Marks
Section 2 English Comprehension & English Précis 100 Marks
(Of Matriculation/ Xth standard level)

Paper-II
General Studies–I 250Marks
(Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society)

Paper-III
General Studies –II 250 Marks
(Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International relations)

Paper-IV
General Studies –III 250 Marks
(Technology, Economic Development, Bio-diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management)

Paper-V
General Studies –IV 250 Marks
(Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude)

Paper-VI
Optional Subject – Paper 1 250 Marks

Paper-VII
Optional Subject – Paper 2 250 Marks

Sub Total (Written test) 1800 Marks

Personality Test 275 Marks.

Grand Total 2075 Marks
