The recently released notification by the Union ministry of human resource development and IIT council for a change in the eligibility criteria for IIT- JEE advance has raised hopes for students. Aspirants can now apply to the entrance test on acquiring 75 per cent marks in their Class 12 board examination.
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is an all India common entrance examination conducted to provide admission in various engineering courses. After an announcement by CBSE in 2012, the entrance examination is being conducted into two parts, JEE-Main and JEE-Advanced. Candidates who clear IIT-JEE main examination are eligible to appear for IIT-JEE advance which provides and entry to IITs.
Around 13 lakh students appeared for JEE Main examination in 2014. The examination is conducted jointly by IIT Guwahati, IIT Roorkee, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay. Aspirants can appear for JEE advance exam for a maximum of two consecutive years and not more than that. The new relaxation allows more students to participate in the examination and increase their chances of admission to pioneer engineering colleges.
According to newspaper reports, a tentative date schedule for IIT-JEE advance 2015 has been released by IIT Bombay. However, the official announcement from the IIT council is awaited. The tentative schedule will help students to keep pace with updates related to admissions.
An announcement of JEE Advanced 2015 Examination Schedule on the official website is expected to be released between -September 15 - 30, 2014
